Jamal Musiala Addresses Health Concerns After Seizures

Jamal Musiala has revealed he is living with “treatable absence seizures” after collapsing on the pitch for the second time in four days, but insists there is no long-term threat to his health or his career.

The Bayern Munich winger went to ground just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute in Tuesday night’s friendly against FC Heidenheim, a worrying repeat of the incident that saw him collapse during Saturday’s match against RB Leipzig.

This time, he chose to address the situation head on.

Musiala explains diagnosis

In a detailed Instagram statement, the 23-year-old moved quickly to calm growing concern among Bayern and Germany supporters.

“First things first, I am doing well. I am incredibly grateful for your messages and your support!” he wrote, before outlining the diagnosis that explains the two alarming episodes.

“I would like to put those concerns to rest today and explain the situation: I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary – but treatable – absence seizures resulting from a neurological dysfunction.

“These can lead to the kind of incidents seen recently, such as during the match against Leipzig or the game in Heidenheim.”

The collapses, shocking in real time, have clearly become something Musiala has had to adjust to in his daily life.

“I know they might look alarming at first glance, but for me, they are currently part of my everyday life. I am receiving excellent medical care and remain very optimistic. FC Bayern and my personal support network are right by my side, helping me through this.”

No further health risk

The key line for Bayern and Germany fans came as Musiala underlined that specialists have cleared him to continue playing.

“Importantly, there is no further health risk involved,” he stressed. In close and regular contact with neurologists, he said it was his “personal wish to face this challenge” while continuing his career.

“With the medical clearance of the neurologists, I want to continue doing what helps my recovery most: simply living my life and pursuing my passion for playing football.

“I have taken full responsibility for this decision. Overall, I feel very positive and am on the right track.”

For a player already central to Bayern’s present and Germany’s future, that message of control and optimism matters as much as any scan or test result.

Focus stays on football – and privacy

Musiala made clear that football remains his compass.

“What helps me most on this journey is continuing to chase victories and titles with my team and with your amazing support,” he wrote, tying his recovery to the rhythm of competition and the dressing-room environment that has shaped his rise.

At the same time, he drew a firm line around how much more he wants to share.

“I hope this helps you understand the situation better. At the same time, I ask for your understanding regarding my wish to keep this matter private, sharing it only with my closest circle, the club, and the medical experts.”

The statement answers the immediate questions. The images of him collapsing twice in four days demanded that. What comes next will play out where Musiala always wanted it to — on the pitch, under the lights, with everything again judged by what he does on the ball.
