Trezeguet Out for a Month Due to Hamstring Tear
Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" will be out for a month after tearing his hamstring, Saudi club Al-Riyadh confirmed on Wednesday via their official account on X.
The Egyptian international suffered the injury in Al-Riyadh's clash with Al-Khaleej on Monday in the sixth round of the Saudi Roshn League. His night ended in heartbreak: he went down early, tried to continue, then left the pitch in tears in the 13th minute.
Medical examinations later revealed a hamstring tear that rules him out for four weeks. Al-Riyadh added that Trezeguet will return to Cairo to complete his rehabilitation under the supervision of Egypt's national team medical staff.
Egypt camp plans rocked
Egypt are due to start their next camp on 17 September, but they will have to do without one of their most trusted attacking weapons. The injury means Trezeguet will miss both of the Pharaohs' upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
- Egypt host Angola on Friday 25 September at Cairo Stadium,
- then travel to Juba to face South Sudan on Tuesday 29 September.
Two important fixtures. No Trezeguet.
The former Aston Villa winger has long been one of Egypt's most influential forwards, valued for his international experience and ability to decide games from wide areas. Now Hossam Hassan must redraw his plans and find a new spark on the flanks while one of his leaders watches from the treatment room in Cairo.
