St Patrick's Athletic Shocks Shamrock Rovers in FAI Cup Comeback

Teenager Sam Rooney struck in extra-time as St Patrick's Athletic roared back from 2-0 down to dump Club Orange FAI Cup holders Shamrock Rovers out in a pulsating third-round tie at Richmond Park.

Rovers looked in complete control by half-time. Jonathan Afolabi and Michael Noonan both found the net, punishing a Saints side that had carved out the better openings but failed to take them. The champions went in at the break with the scoreboard, if not the balance of play, firmly in their favour.

St Pat's refused to fold.
