Sparta Rotterdam Near Loan Deal for PSV's Isaac Babadi

Sparta Rotterdam are closing in on a loan deal for PSV midfielder Isaac Babadi, with the move expected to be confirmed on Deadline Day, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The 21-year-old has struggled to secure minutes at the Philips Stadion and has slipped out of Peter Bosz’s first-team plans. His last appearance for PSV’s senior side dates back to May of last year, a stark contrast to the promise that once surrounded him in Eindhoven.

PSV have given the green light for Babadi to leave in search of playing time. Earlier this week, Voetbal International reported that both Fortuna Sittard and Sparta Rotterdam were in the running for his signature. Sparta have now moved to the front of the queue and look set to win that battle.

The agreement with Sparta stands apart from the recent move that saw Ayoni Santos head from Rotterdam to PSV. There is no direct swap involved, just two clubs doing separate pieces of late-window business.

Sparta will not take on Babadi’s full salary, but will cover part of his wages for the duration of the loan, ED reports. The final details are expected to be wrapped up before the window shuts.

Babadi is under contract with PSV until mid-2028 and has already made 35 official appearances for the first team, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Last season he was loaned to Royal Antwerp FC, where he featured 21 times in official matches.

Now, with his pathway at PSV blocked, Rotterdam offers something Eindhoven currently cannot: a realistic shot at regular Eredivisie football.
