Schalke Receives Fitness Boost as Gosens and Karaman Return
With the new Bundesliga season edging closer, Schalke have finally been given something they badly needed: good news from the treatment room.
Robin Gosens, the club’s headline summer signing, is back in the thick of it. On Wednesday, 12 August, the left-sided all‑rounder took part in large portions of full team training, a key step after his early setback. He had injured his thigh in a test match against Hessen Kassel at the start of the month, an untimely blow just as he was trying to settle into his new surroundings.
The mood around the training ground lifted again with the sight of Kenan Karaman rejoining the group. The captain, who had been sidelined by a pelvic contusion picked up in the friendly against Atalanta on 8 August, has also returned to regular training and is back among his teammates at last.
Not everyone is there yet. Junior Dina Ebimbe remains on an individual programme and continues to work away from the main group. The midfielder still needs a little more time before he can be reintegrated into full squad sessions.
As the season curtain rises, Schalke’s picture is clear enough: key figures are filtering back, the core is reforming, and the wait now centres on when Dina Ebimbe can finally complete the puzzle.
