Rangers Supporters Banned After Scottish Cup Disorder
Two Rangers supporters have been hit with five-year bans from every football ground in the UK after ugly scenes marred an Old Firm Scottish Cup quarter-final in March.
The pair were caught on separate pieces of footage as disorder erupted at the end of the tie, turning a high-stakes Glasgow derby into an alarming spectacle for many inside the stadium, including children and disabled fans being hurried to safety.
Mackenzie Graham, 21, from Glasgow, was filmed vaulting a fence before charging onto the pitch and leading a group of fellow supporters in an invasion. He repeatedly urged others to follow him over the barrier, stoking the chaos as tensions flared.
In the stands, 19-year-old John Smith, from Peterhead, was seen throwing a bottle towards Celtic supporters. Police officers moved in and apprehended him amid the disorder.
The trouble broke out as the match concluded and continued while stewards and police worked to move vulnerable spectators away from the flashpoints.
Both men admitted the charges against them, and the bans now bar them from attending any football ground in the UK for the next five years — a stark reminder of how quickly one night of disorder can close the turnstiles on a fan’s future.
