Hull City Faces Setback as Fortini Joins Torino and David Rejects Move

Hull City’s Italian recruitment drive has taken a heavy hit, with Niccolò Fortini officially joining Torino and Jonathan David rejecting a move to the MKM Stadium.

Transfer Details: Niccolò Fortini joins Torino on loan for €500,000 with a purchase option of €9.5m.

Torino confirmed on Friday that Fortini has arrived from Fiorentina on an initial loan with an option to buy. Italian outlet TMW reports the deal is worth €500,000 for the loan, with a purchase option set at €9.5m.

The 20-year-old full-back, who can operate on either flank, had been in talks with Hull City and was on the Premier League side’s radar for weeks. The battle, though, is over. Several Italian sources had already indicated last week that Fortini had chosen Torino, and that decision has now been rubber-stamped.

Fiorentina moved to protect their asset before letting him go. Fortini’s contract in Florence was originally due to expire in June 2027, but La Viola extended it to 2030 ahead of the loan agreement, ensuring they retain long-term control if Torino decide not to trigger the option.

While Torino strengthen, Hull are left to regroup. And the blows keep coming.

Tuttosport reports that Juventus forward Jonathan David has also turned down an approach from Hull. The Canada international, who has been linked with moves across Europe, is said to prefer staying in Turin rather than making the jump to the Premier League with the Yorkshire club.

Two targets, two rejections. Hull’s search for reinforcements now heads into its next chapter, with the Italian market suddenly looking a lot less welcoming.
