PSG Aims for First Ligue 1 Win Against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain head north on Friday night still searching for their first Ligue 1 win of the season, and Luis Enrique is ready to shake the tree.

Held 2-2 at home by Rennes on the opening weekend, PSG arrive in Lille under early scrutiny. The champions dominated large spells at the Parc des Princes but let points slip; now, the response has to come on the road.

According to L'Équipe, Luis Enrique is preparing four changes to the side that started against Rennes, with tweaks in every department.

Defensive reshuffle

Nuno Mendes remains sidelined through injury, so there is no return for the Portuguese full-back. The left side will change anyway. Lucas Digne is expected to come in for Lucas Hernández, offering a more natural outlet on the flank.

On the opposite side, the surprise is bigger. Warren Zaïre-Emery is set to be used as an unorthodox right-back, replacing Achraf Hakimi. The teenager’s energy and press resistance could give PSG a different angle in the build-up, even if it means sacrificing a traditional attacking full-back.

Marquinhos and Willian Pacho are due to continue at the heart of the defence, shielding Matvei Safonov, who keeps his place in goal.

Midfield tweak, attack refreshed

The changes do not stop there. In midfield, Lucas Beraldo is expected to start instead of Vitinha, adding a different profile in the centre of the pitch alongside João Neves and Fabián Ruiz.

Further forward, one of last week’s heroes is rewarded. With Ousmane Dembélé set to be rested, Ferran Torres is in line for his full debut. The Spaniard came off the bench to score twice and salvage a draw against Rennes; now he looks set to be trusted from the first whistle.

Torres should join Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in a fluid front three that will be asked to turn possession into points this time.
