Vincenzo Montella Predicts Kenan Yildiz's Rise Amid Injury Setbacks for Turkey

Turkey's head coach Vincenzo Montella addressed the challenge of missing key players Hakan Calhanoglu and Kenan Yildiz due to injury ahead of crucial UEFA Nations League games. Speaking about their upcoming fixtures, Montella highlighted the tactical difficulties posed by the absence of these important figures and defender Mert Muldur.

He explained how losing established leaders means giving younger players a chance to face intense competition sooner than expected. Montella said, "Without Calhanoglu and Yildiz, it’s not the same Turkey. At first, Muldur is also out. It will be a test for the new players, especially with four matches lined up, making things tougher."

Montella Praises Yildiz's Potential

Despite Yildiz's current injury, Montella expressed strong confidence in the 21-year-old Juventus star's future. He compared Yildiz’s style to Italian great Alessandro Del Piero, emphasizing his rare technical skill and versatility. Montella believes Yildiz is destined to become one of football's leading talents.

"Kenan Yildiz will become one of the world’s top players," Montella stated. "Even when Ale started, comparisons with Baggio were common. He has the talent and potential of a great player. Right now, he isn’t a classic number 10, but at this age, players evolve. He can play as a number 10 even coming from the wing and cutting inside."

Anticipation Builds for Matches Against Italy

Montella spoke with emotion about Turkey’s upcoming back-to-back matches versus Italy, coached by his former Sampdoria teammate Roberto Mancini. The Italian manager praised Mancini’s role in guiding Italy through rebuilding after recent setbacks.

"I would have liked to face all teams, but not Italy twice in a few days. I’ll be very emotional," Montella admitted. "I played with Mancini at Samp; there’s respect and affection. I believe in him; he has the experience to bring Italy back to the top. He’s the right person."

Preparing for Tough Competition in Nations League

Turkey is set to start Group A1 of the Nations League against France, followed by two fixtures against Italy. Montella emphasized the need for tactical discipline despite missing key players.

"France has unmatched quality and a deep squad," Montella noted. "They have renewed energy under Zidane, but it won’t be easy for them either. As for the two matches against Italy, I hope they will be very balanced."
