Mason Greenwood Rejects Saudi Offers as Marseille Exit Approaches

Mason Greenwood is closing the door on his time at Olympique de Marseille – but not for the Saudi millions that have circled him all summer.

The 24-year-old forward has rejected several lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, according to Sacha Tavolieri, despite strong interest from Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Al Diriyah. The money was there. The move will not be.

Signs of an impending departure from OM are already visible. After two seasons in the south of France, Greenwood has handed back the keys to his house in Aix, as reported by La Provence. It looks less like speculation now and more like the final steps of an exit.

Fenerbahce in pole position – but not over the line

In Turkey, Fenerbahce have moved quickly. L’Équipe report that Greenwood has agreed personal terms with the Istanbul club, a significant step in any transfer of this size. The player is on board. The contract framework is understood.

The problem sits elsewhere. Fenerbahce have yet to strike a deal with Marseille.

OM value Greenwood at around €50m, a figure that sets the tone for every negotiation around him. Until that number is met, or something close to it, Marseille hold the strongest hand. For now, they are waiting.

Roma lurking as Italian option

Italy offers another escape route. AS Roma are in the frame and Greenwood is keen on the idea of a move to the capital. The appeal is obvious: a major Serie A club, a passionate city, and a stage that still carries serious European weight.

But Roma face the same obstacle as Fenerbahce. Interest is there, the willingness on the player’s side is there, yet no agreement with OM has been reached. The €50m valuation hangs over every call, every proposal.

So Greenwood stands at a crossroads: Saudi riches declined, Fenerbahce advanced but not done, Roma interested yet short of a deal. Marseille are ready to sell. The player is ready to go.

Now the market has to decide who believes he is worth the price.
