Tottenham Targets Savinho and Marmoush in Bold Transfer Move

Tottenham are attempting to pull off one of the most audacious attacking double deals of the summer, with talks progressing over moves for Savinho and Marmoush from Manchester City, according to The Athletic.

Nothing is agreed yet, but the negotiations between the two Premier League clubs are described as advancing positively. This is not a speculative enquiry. Spurs are pushing.

They know Savinho well. Tottenham tried to prise the Brazilian away last summer, only to be rebuffed by City, who were reluctant to cash in. The landscape has shifted. Savinho was left out of the squad entirely for City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday, a decision that only intensified noise around his future and underlined the feeling that a move is now firmly on the table.

Marmoush, too, has long looked like a player on the brink of the exit door. Stuck behind Erling Haaland and used as cover rather than genuine competition, he has been widely expected to move on during this window in search of a leading role.

If Tottenham get both over the line, it will cap an extraordinary summer of spending and squad reconstruction in north London.

A summer of upheaval – and intent

Spurs have already thrown down a financial marker. The club have committed a huge £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, reshaping the spine of Roberto De Zerbi’s side with a mix of established pedigree and high-ceiling talent.

Those headline deals have been backed up by opportunistic business in the free-agent market. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have all arrived without transfer fees, adding experience, depth and know-how across the pitch.

Despite the outlay, Tottenham are understood to remain within financial regulations. That position owes much to a change of approach from majority owners ENIC, who are now actively injecting funds into the club, and to smart sales. The standout departure is Luka Vuskovic, whose move to Brighton is worth a guaranteed £46m and has helped balance the books while keeping the recruitment drive alive.

De Zerbi’s “bomba” and the need up front

Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters by hinting that Spurs were lining up a surprise “bomba” signing. The comment was not thrown out lightly. He knows the squad needs another jolt in the final third.

The urgency is clear. Richarlison is down to the final year of his contract, his long-term future unresolved. Dominic Solanke has battled injuries, preventing him from establishing the kind of rhythm and reliability De Zerbi craves from his centre-forward options.

That context makes the pursuit of Savinho and Marmoush feel less like luxury and more like necessity.

Marmoush arrives with a recent scoring streak that will have caught Tottenham’s eye. In his final half-season with Eintracht Frankfurt, before joining City, he hit 15 goals in 17 games – a ruthless run that suggested a striker ready to lead the line at a high level. Spurs will hope that version of Marmoush walks through the door at Hotspur Way.

Savinho, meanwhile, offers a different threat: direct, unpredictable, and capable of stretching defences in wide areas. For a De Zerbi side that thrives on sharp combinations and vertical surges, his profile fits.

What it would mean for Spurs

Landing both attackers would hand De Zerbi the firepower he has been openly seeking and give Tottenham one of the most varied and dangerous forward units in the division. It would also add real weight to their ambition of locking themselves back into the top-four conversation, not as outsiders, but as serious contenders.

The manager has spoken boldly to supporters about where he wants to take this team. A double swoop from the champions would go a long way towards backing up those words.

For now, the work is at the negotiating table. Tottenham are concentrating on turning positive talks with City into signed agreements before the transfer window shuts. The clock is ticking, the stakes are obvious.

If Spurs can drag both Savinho and Marmoush over the line, De Zerbi will walk into the autumn with one of the most formidable attacks in the Premier League. Then comes the real test: can this rebuilt, heavily backed Tottenham side turn a lavish summer into the season their fans have been waiting for?
