Manchester United meet an old face and a European heavyweight in Wroclaw on Saturday, as their pre-season tour closes with a high-stakes friendly against AC Milan at the Tarczynski Arena.
This is no routine warm-up. Not with Ruben Amorim in the opposite dugout.
The Portuguese coach, who left United under a dark cloud after winning just 24 of his 63 games in charge, returns to face the club that moved on without him. The backdrop is pre-season. The mood is anything but.
United sharpening up, Milan searching for a spark

Milan are in a very different place. Amorim has yet to win a game in charge. A 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in their last outing exposed familiar structural issues, while draws with Celtic and city rivals Inter Milan have done little to ease the early scrutiny around the new regime. For a club of Milan’s stature, patience is always thin.
So this is framed as a friendly, yet it carries a sharp competitive edge. United want to finish their tour with authority. Milan and Amorim badly need a statement.

Team news: big names returning, new faces on show
United’s medical bulletin brings a mix of caution and encouragement.
Mason Mount remains a doubt after suffering a foot injury against Paris Saint-Germain. The club will not rush him, with the Premier League opener looming. Harry Maguire, rested for the draw with Leeds, is set to come back into the side and should anchor the defence as he looks to reassert himself.
The real intrigue lies with the expected first appearances of Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford on this tour. Martinez’s aggression and left-footed distribution, Mainoo’s composure in midfield and Rashford’s direct threat in the final third all give United a very different feel. Summer signing Andrey Santos has been one of the quiet revelations of pre-season. The Brazilian has impressed with his energy and intelligence in midfield and is likely to be rewarded with another start as the coaching staff test his chemistry with the established core.
On the Milan side, eyes turn to Goncalo Ramos. The marquee signing of their window came off the bench against Chelsea and could be handed a first start or more extended run here. His movement and penalty-box instinct offer Amorim a focal point he has badly needed in these early games.
