Jersey Bulls Face Early Season Setback with Pierce Roche Injury

Jersey Bulls have been dealt an early-season blow with goalkeeper Pierce Roche ruled out for around three months after breaking his collarbone in their FA Trophy exit.

The 2-2 draw at Hayes and Yeading United had already taken its toll before the decisive shootout. Roche appeared to suffer the injury as he dived in vain to his right, unable to keep out the hosts’ third spot-kick from Ross Derham.

He stayed on. He insisted on finishing the shootout.

But the pain was obvious as he lined up for the final penalty, with Brendan Matthew stepping up to bury the winning kick and seal a 4-1 victory on penalties for Hayes.

Roche has been the Bulls’ first-choice keeper at the start of the campaign, starting both of their matches so far and making 11 appearances for the island side in the 2025-26 season.

Jersey now have to regroup quickly. They travel to Moneyfields on Tuesday night in the Isthmian League South Central, already facing the challenge of reshaping their defence without their established number one.
