Eli Junior Kroupi Nominated for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout year has earned him a place on one of football’s biggest stages.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, a striking rise for a player who only made his Cherries debut in August 2025.

Teen sensation on the big list

Kroupi, 20, is one of three Premier League names in a 10-player shortlist, joining Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi in flying the flag for English football’s next generation.

He has earned it the hard way. Last season, his first in English football, he featured 35 times for Bournemouth in all competitions and scored 13 goals, quickly becoming a key attacking threat.

The numbers told their own story. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, Kroupi had scored more goals than any other teenager in a debut Premier League season, a landmark that pushed him firmly into the continental spotlight.

Award recognition, injury frustration

Right now, though, his rise is on pause. Kroupi has yet to play this season after suffering a foot injury in pre-season that required surgery. Bournemouth expect him back in October or November, a timeline that means he will likely be recovering while his name is read out among Europe’s elite.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year prize is one of the honours on offer at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony, which will take place in London on Monday, 26 October.

For Kroupi, the nomination underlines what his debut year already hinted at: his name belongs in the conversation. The next question is simple — how high can he push it once he’s back on the pitch?
