Derby County Faces Setback as Eiran Cashin Ruled Out for Eight Weeks

Derby County’s plans for the run-in have taken a major hit, with defender Eiran Cashin set to miss around two months after suffering a calf injury.

The 22-year-old only returned to Pride Park at the start of the month, rejoining on loan from Brighton for the rest of the season. A homegrown product who racked up 144 appearances in his first spell with the Rams, his comeback had given John Eustace an immediate, experienced presence at the heart of the defence.

He went straight into the side, starting the defeats against West Brom and Birmingham and playing almost the full 90 minutes in both. Then came the first warning sign: Cashin was nowhere to be seen in the squad for the clash with Burnley.

The reason became clear soon after.

“Cash is out now for about eight weeks, he’s done his calf,” manager John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby.

For a Derby team trying to build momentum and defensive stability, losing a player so closely tied to the club’s recent history is a sharp setback – and it leaves Eustace with an early test of his squad’s depth at the most demanding stage of the season.
