Benjamin Sesko Withdraws from Slovenia Squad Amid United Injury Crisis
Benjamin Sesko has pulled out of Slovenia’s Nations League squad as Manchester United’s injury list continues to grow and their season stutters.
The 23-year-old striker, who missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham, is sidelined with a shin problem picked up in last week’s League Cup defeat to Brighton. He stayed at home while his teammates laboured at Craven Cottage, and now he will sit out a key international block as well.
Sesko has been ruled out of Slovenia’s upcoming fixtures against Scotland, North Macedonia and Switzerland during a three-week international window.
“Manchester United can confirm that Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from the Slovenia squad ahead of the upcoming three-week international break,” the club said in a statement on Monday. “Benjamin will undergo tests this week before defining his individual recovery plan.”
For United, the timing is grim. Sesko has scored two goals this season and was beginning to look like a central piece of Michael Carrick’s attack. Instead, he becomes the fourth United player in a single day to step away from international duty.
