Concern for Bayern as Musiala Leaves Pitch Unwell

Bayern Munich’s pre-season took a worrying turn on Tuesday night when Jamal Musiala again had to leave the pitch feeling unwell, just days before the German Super Cup.

The 21-year-old came on after an hour in Bayern’s 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim. Within four minutes, he was on the turf, clearly in discomfort. Players from both sides quickly formed a protective circle around him as medical staff sprinted on.

The scene was tense, but not as dramatic as it first looked. After treatment, Musiala was able to walk off the pitch under his own power, to muted applause and a visible exhale of relief from the Bayern bench.

This was not an isolated incident. On Saturday, in another friendly against RB Leipzig, Musiala had already raised alarm bells. Brought on in the closing stages, he soon sat down on the grass, signalling that something was wrong. Several emergency responders rushed to him, and team-mates, including Ismael Saibari, showed immediate concern.

Again, the outcome brought some reassurance. Musiala eventually stood up and left the field without assistance, easing the anxiety that had swept through the Bayern camp.

After that Leipzig match, sporting director Max Eberl tried to calm the situation without overreaching. “He is doing well now. And that is the most important thing. Beyond that, we cannot say too much about it yet,” he told Sport1. No further details have been made public, and Musiala himself has not yet commented on the two incidents.

Two friendlies. Two early departures. One of Bayern’s most important players now heads into the weekend under a cloud of uncertainty.

Bayern face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday in the German Super Cup. The club will hope the story that night is about silverware, not their star playmaker once again needing medical attention.
