Arsenal's Kai Havertz Faces Hamstring Injury During Germany Duty Under Jurgen Klopp
Kai Havertz, Arsenal's forward, is awaiting a scan after a suspected hamstring injury sustained in Germany’s 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw against the Netherlands. This match marked Jurgen Klopp's first game as Germany's manager, but the injury overshadowed the event.
Frustration in Klopp's Opening Match
Klopp seemed on track for a winning start when Felix Nmecha scored in the first half. Yet, a stoppage-time equalizer by Cody Gakpo denied victory. The disappointment deepened when Havertz was forced off in the 32nd minute after a heavy challenge from Quinten Timber. This injury has put Arsenal on edge ahead of a critical stretch in their schedule.
Double Setback for Germany
The main concern lies with Havertz’s suspected hamstring issue, which occurred soon after Timber's tough tackle. He received on-field treatment before being replaced by Younes Eboutalib. Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala also faced trouble, withdrawing before kickoff due to a thigh injury during warm-up. Klopp expressed his worries post-match:
"Both are currently undergoing an MRI. I hope we get the diagnosis this evening. But of course, this isn’t great. I hope it’s nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they’ll be back in action relatively quickly."
Arteta Faces Growing Injury Concerns
Mikel Arteta is already juggling several absences during the international break. Arsenal lost Declan Rice and Marli Salmon from England’s senior and Under-18 squads, respectively. Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber was left out of the Netherlands squad as a precaution due to recent fitness issues. Havertz’s injury adds more pressure on Arteta’s depleted squad.
What’s Ahead for Havertz?
Klopp hinted that both Havertz and Musiala might miss Germany’s upcoming three matches, including two fixtures against Greece and one against Serbia. Arsenal’s immediate concern is Havertz’s availability for their Premier League game versus Leeds United on October 10. The medical results from the MRI scan will be crucial for the club’s planning.
