Zlatan Ibrahimovic Returns to Milanello After Six Months Away
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has appeared at AC Milan's training ground, Milanello, for the first time in six months. The Swedish legend was there on Monday morning to watch Ruben Amorim’s squad during their training session, signaling his return to the club's daily activities.
Observing the Squad Ahead of European Clash
The former striker, now an advisor for RedBird, took a close interest in the team's preparations as they gear up for their UEFA Europa League opener against Benfica. Reports from Sky Sport Italia confirm his presence at Milanello, where he observed the players under the guidance of head coach Ruben Amorim. This appearance comes at a significant moment, boosting morale as Milan readies itself for important European matches.
Background to Ibrahimovic’s Absence
His absence followed a tense period marked by a clash with then-manager Massimiliano Allegri. That disagreement coincided with a tough stretch for Milan, which ended with the team finishing fifth in Serie A and missing out on Champions League qualification. Allegri was dismissed shortly after the season ended, and Ibrahimovic stepped back from the club’s daily operations.
Maintaining Influence Behind the Scenes
Although away from Milanello, Ibrahimovic kept active behind the scenes, maintaining his partnership with owner Gerry Cardinale. His role as a key advisor for RedBird allowed him to stay connected with the club’s strategic direction. Over the summer, after discussions to clear the air, he has re-engaged fully, helping to bridge communication between management and the sporting staff.
Milan’s Current Form and Upcoming Fixtures
On the Serie A front, Milan sit fifth with eight points from four games. They started strong with wins over Torino and Venezia but have since drawn away matches against Juventus and Lazio. Following the Europa League match against Benfica, the team will host Lecce at San Siro before the international break.
