According to Sky, Manchester City have moved from admiration to action. Last season’s Premier League runners-up have not yet put an official bid in writing, but they have told Leipzig they are prepared to go to €100 million including bonuses for the Ivory Coast international.
Leipzig’s response? Not enough.
Real Madrid have also stepped into the conversation. As reported by The Athletic, the European champions have contacted Leipzig and spoken directly with the club’s hierarchy about Diomande, and they are not treating it as a casual enquiry. Real are actively working on a deal, seeing the 19-year-old as a serious attacking option for the Bernabeu.
The first move from Spain has already landed. Sky report that the Spanish runners-up tabled an offer worth €90 million as a base fee plus €10 million in bonuses, again making it a €100 million package. Leipzig declined, politely but firmly.
Madrid’s pursuit could intensify if Brahim Diaz leaves. The Morocco international is viewed as a candidate for sale, and his departure would open a clear slot in Carlo Ancelotti’s attacking rotation. Diomande, with his pace and one‑v‑one quality, fits the profile of a high-end replacement.
A €130 million battle for a one-year star
Convincing Leipzig, though, is another matter entirely.
The club do not want to lose Diomande after just one season in Saxony. Internally, this is seen as a player to build around, not cash in on. Their stance has already been tested: Liverpool are said to have had an offer worth around €100 million rejected, broadly in line with the numbers now being discussed by Real and City.
The message from Leipzig is clear. Anyone who truly wants Diomande will likely have to start the conversation at around €130 million.
Even Paris Saint-Germain, flush with Champions League glory and long considered the favourites for his signature, have not yet been willing to cross that line. The French champions have held major interest and were, until recently, viewed as the leading contenders in this tug-of-war. If Real decide to push hard and keep increasing their bids, the dynamic at the top of the market could shift in a matter of days.
For now, Leipzig are the ones dictating the tempo.
From €20m punt to global headline

Last summer, Leipzig paid €20 million to CD Leganes to bring him to Germany. It looked like a smart, forward-thinking investment. It has turned into a jackpot.
Diomande tore into his first Bundesliga season. Across all competitions he produced 15 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances, numbers that back up the eye test of a dribble-happy winger who loves to attack defenders and carries real end product.
His rise did not stop at club level. At the World Cup, he became a regular starter for Ivory Coast, registering one assist in four games. The Ivorians went out in the round of 32, losing 2-1 to Erling Haaland’s Norway, but Diomande had already made his point on the biggest stage.
Leipzig know exactly what they have. And they know what it will cost to take him away.
Leipzig’s counterplay
Diomande is under contract at Leipzig until 2030, a powerful piece of leverage in any negotiation. The club are understood to be keen on offering him a new deal on improved terms, both as a reward for his breakout season and as a way of strengthening their hand further.
The plan is simple: make it attractive for him to stay while ensuring that, if he does go, it is on Leipzig’s terms and at a price that reflects his importance.
City are circling. Real are probing. PSG are lurking, still interested but not yet ready to go all-in at Leipzig’s valuation. Liverpool have already been turned away.
