Trevoh Chalobah Moves Closer to Como Switch as Chelsea Reshapes Defense
Como have pushed back to the front of the queue for Trevoh Chalobah, submitting an improved bid to Chelsea as the defender’s Stamford Bridge career moves towards a decisive moment.
The Serie A club, backed by the ambition of Cesc Fabregas and the lure of Champions League football, have tabled a new offer worth €25m in guaranteed fees, with a further €5m in achievable bonuses to take the package to €30m. The latest proposal, reported on Friday, underlines Como’s determination to land the 25-year-old centre-back after weeks of interest from Italy.
Inter had also been linked earlier in the window, but it is Como who now look best placed. The project is clear, the intent even clearer, and the player is listening.
Chalobah is described as keen on the move, attracted by the chance to reset his career in a new league and compete at Europe’s top table. Calciomercato.com reports that an agreement in principle over his salary is already in place, removing one of the major obstacles that often slows cross-border deals. The focus now rests on Chelsea’s response to the fresh offer and how quickly they are prepared to sign off on a sale.
The timing is no coincidence. In West London, the defensive hierarchy is shifting again. Chelsea have agreed a deal believed to be worth around €60m (£52m) for Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, a signing that pushes Chalobah even further down the pecking order. Once a symbol of the club’s academy pathway into the first team, he now finds himself squeezed by another expensive arrival.
The contrast between the two clubs could hardly be sharper. Chelsea, who stumbled to 10th place in the 2025-26 Premier League season, will be without European football next term. Como, by contrast, can put Champions League nights on the table. For a player approaching what should be his prime years, that difference matters.
Chelsea’s stance has been consistent for some time: Chalobah is available at the right price. With Como’s latest offer edging towards the numbers the London club have been seeking, the move is gathering momentum. The defender has admirers in England and Italy, but the combination of a clear role, European football and a club eager to build around him gives Como a strong hand.
