Thomas Tuchel Predicts Harry Kane Will Join Ronaldo and Messi in 100-Goal Club for England
Tuchel Confident Kane Will Reach 100 Goals for England Soon
Thomas Tuchel, the England manager, believes Harry Kane is close to joining an elite group of international scorers. Kane currently has 87 goals for England after his recent strike in a 2-0 Nations League win against the Czech Republic. Tuchel predicts Kane will hit the 100-goal milestone in just 13 more matches.
Kane’s tally puts him eighth on the all-time international scoring list, with only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Ali Daei having scored over 100 goals in men's football. Tuchel praised Kane's goal-scoring ability, saying, "He is closing in. He scored again. 13 goals left." When asked if he truly expects Kane to reach the landmark, Tuchel responded firmly: "Thirteen matches. You will not get another Harry Kane, first of all. He is the highest level of goalscorer."
The Challenge of Replacing Kane
While focusing on Kane's present achievements, Tuchel warned about the difficulty England will face once Kane eventually retires from international football. The captain remains in excellent form, scoring in consecutive matches against Spain and the Czech Republic. This continues the momentum from his six goals at the World Cup, which helped England finish third.
Tuchel said, "There will be someone else but it will not be Harry or a copy of Harry. We will find a solution when it comes to it but maybe not me. It might be another 10 years." His comments suggest that Kane’s legacy as England's top scorer could last a decade.
Kane Focused on Present Success
Kane, who broke Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 goals three years ago, is preparing for his 124th cap against Croatia. He remains one of the most prolific strikers in world football, having scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich last season. Kane is also considered a strong candidate for the upcoming Ballon d’Or award.
"I don’t like to think too far ahead, but of course, it’s getting closer," Kane said about reaching 100 goals. "100 goals for the national team would be something special without a doubt. It still feels like yesterday I just broke the record and I was away in Italy getting that one. The seasons come and they go quickly, so I just enjoy being out there with the boys on the pitch, wearing the Three Lions shirt and that won’t change."
Looking Beyond Goals
Kane also reflected on his role beyond just scoring. "The striker’s job is to score goals first and foremost, and I know that, and I love doing that. It’s still the best feeling there is," he explained. After scoring against the Czech Republic, he admitted he was ready to come off the field, knowing he had done his part.
He added, "Sometimes I’ll touch the ball a lot and be the difference in maybe build-up or passing or switching play." Kane also pointed out that while the team secured a victory, there is room for improvement in areas like delivering the final cross or through ball. "In the end, a win’s a win," he said. "I’ve been around long enough in the team where sometimes you just have to win the game and move on and tonight was one of those."
