Tegan Bowie Completes Move to Parma Calcio
Tegan Bowie’s Hibernian story is over. The next chapter starts in Italy.
The 22-year-old winger has completed a permanent move to Serie A side Parma Calcio after the Italian club triggered a release clause in her Hibs contract, with the fee remaining undisclosed.
For Hibernian, it’s a departure that stings. For Bowie, it’s the kind of step that underlines how far she has come.
From academy prospect to title winner
Bowie’s journey with Hibs began in the academy, long before the senior appearances and the silverware. She left for Celtic in her development years, but the pull of Edinburgh proved strong. Her return to the club in 2023 changed the shape of both her career and Hibs’ attack.
Back in green and white, she quickly became a fixture. Across her time with the club, Bowie made 101 appearances and scored nine goals, but those raw numbers only hint at her influence. In the 2024-25 campaign, as Hibs surged to the title, she delivered her most decisive football: five goals, 10 assists, and a constant outlet on the flank.
She stretched games. She carried the ball. She gave Hibs width, tempo, and an edge in transition. When opponents tired, Bowie often looked like she was just getting started.
A clause that changed everything
The move to Parma has come not through drawn-out negotiations but via a legal trigger. A release clause, written into her deal from summer 2025, gave the Italian club a clear route to her signature. Once they activated it, Hibs had no room to manoeuvre.
Head coach Joelle Murray did not hide the mixed emotions.
"I'm disappointed to see Tegan leave under a clause that was in her contract from summer 2025," she told club media, underlining the frustration of losing a key player on terms already set in ink.
Yet there was no disguising Murray’s respect for Bowie’s evolution.
"She's grown and developed massively during her time at the club, both as a player and a person.
"I wish her nothing but success as she takes on this new challenge in a new country with a new team. Hopefully she can continue that incredible personal growth next season and beyond."
That balance of disappointment and pride summed up the mood around Easter Road: regret at losing a cornerstone of the side, recognition that her progress had made this kind of move inevitable.
A player ready for a new stage
Bowie’s own message carried the tone of someone who knows what she is leaving behind.
"I've gotten to experience some of my favourite memories with this team and being able to have the freedom to express myself on the pitch has helped me in my development," she said, paying tribute to the environment that allowed her to flourish.
That freedom has been central to her rise. At Hibs, she learned to take responsibility in the final third, to make decisions under pressure, to turn potential into end product. Parma are buying more than a winger with pace; they are investing in a player who has already proved she can shoulder expectation in a title race.
For Hibernian, the challenge is clear. A 22-year-old, homegrown attacker, fresh from a championship season and embedded in the club’s identity, has gone. Those 101 appearances and the influence behind them will not be easily replicated.
For Bowie, the opportunity is just as stark. New league, new country, new demands. Parma have shown their intent by triggering the clause. Now it is her turn to show why she was worth the push.
