Regis Pitbull: Former Corinthians and Vasco Striker Faces Homelessness Amid Crack Addiction

The ex-striker for Corinthians and Vasco da Gama, Regis Pitbull, now endures life on the streets of São Paulo, battling a harsh addiction to crack cocaine. At 49 years old, his appearance has changed drastically after years of substance abuse, leaving him isolated from family and living in makeshift shelters.

Living Rough in São Paulo’s Pirituba

Regis, who also played for clubs like Ponte Preta, Coritiba, and had stints overseas in Japan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, currently sleeps under tarps and worn blankets amid rubble in Pirituba's northern zone, according to journalist Emilio Botta from Globo Esporte. His addiction has stripped him of his home, dignity, and most support from friends and relatives.

A Cry Hidden in Silence

"It’s better if they think I’m dead... I don’t want anyone to know I exist," Regis said during an interview with Botta, revealing deep despair.

Concerns about his health first arose when former amateur teammates noticed his decline. His troubles with drugs began while still playing professionally, having twice failed doping tests for cannabis.

A Career Overshadowed by Addiction

Regis scored 49 goals in 170 appearances throughout his wandering career, which included time at Bahia and Portuguesa. Despite his achievements, drug use increasingly controlled his life after retirement. Legal issues worsened matters following his 2025 arrest for assaulting a building manager, leading to eviction from his apartment.

Ongoing Legal and Financial Struggles

Currently, Regis faces civil proceedings over unpaid condo fees and property taxes on his last remaining apartment. Although foreclosure looms, he still holds onto hope of reclaiming the property, as reported by Globo Esporte.
