Raphinha Matches Messi's Record as Lamine Yamal Scores Twice in Barcelona's 5-0 Victory Over Valencia

Lamine Yamal scored two goals while Raphinha matched a famous Lionel Messi scoring record as Barcelona crushed Valencia 5-0 on Sunday. This win gave Barcelona a three-point lead over Real Madrid at the summit of the LaLiga standings after Real Madrid's unexpected loss to Real Betis.

Yamal's Early Impact

The match at Mestalla began perfectly for Barcelona. In the sixth minute, Fermin Lopez delivered a clever pass to Yamal, who flicked the ball first-time from a tight angle into the top corner of the net. Two minutes later, Yamal had another goal ruled out for offside, but Barcelona kept pressing.

• 22nd minute: Lopez doubled the lead following a setup from Anthony Gordon inside the penalty area.
• Before halftime: Valencia’s goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski made a strong save, but Barcelona controlled the game fully as Valencia struggled, having earned just one point so far this season.

Raphinha Joins the Scoring Party

Just four minutes into the second half, Barcelona extended their lead. A well-executed attack saw Yamal link up with Lopez, who then assisted Raphinha to score from close range. This marked Raphinha's sixth goal in his first four games this season, making him only the second player in the 21st century to hit six goals in the opening four league matches for his team, matching Messi's feat twice achieved before.

Rodri nearly responded with a header that struck the crossbar as Barcelona continued to dominate possession and chances.

Late Goals by Pedri and Yamal

• 79th minute: Pedri scored the fourth goal, finishing smartly into the bottom corner after receiving a pass from Dani Olmo.
• 84th minute: Olmo again set up Yamal, who finished clinically to complete the five-goal rout.

The match also featured the debut of new signing Gabriel Jesus, who recently joined Barcelona from Arsenal, adding excitement for fans as he took the field for the first time.

Looking Ahead for Barcelona

Barcelona now sits atop LaLiga with a perfect 15 points from five matches. Coach Hansi Flick will expect his team to keep this attacking momentum as they face upcoming challenges in both European and domestic competitions. Raphinha aims to continue his scoring streak and become one of the few players to net goals in five consecutive matches, joining legends Cesar Rodriguez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
