Rangers Set to Loan Nedim Bajrami to Al Taawoun

Rangers are working on a deal to move Nedim Bajrami out of Ibrox this summer, with Saudi Pro League side Al Taawoun pushing to take the midfielder on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

The Albania international arrived from Sassuolo in August 2024, a signing that was supposed to add creativity and energy to the Rangers midfield. It never really caught fire.

Twelve Scottish Premiership appearances tell the story. Flashes, not foundations. Bajrami struggled to pin down a starting place and slipped further from the picture as the season wore on.

Now, under Derek McInnes, the message is blunt. Bajrami is among a group of players informed they are not part of the plans for the coming campaign as Rangers rip into a major rebuild. Sunsport report that Al Taawoun are in talks with Rangers over an initial loan, structured with a future fee of around £2.5 million.

It’s the kind of proposal that suits all sides: immediate relief for Rangers’ squad and budget, a fresh stage for Bajrami, and a relatively low-risk look at the player for the Saudi club before committing fully.

Negotiations are active and ongoing, with the deal not yet over the line. Other suitors are said to be watching closely, ready to move if the Al Taawoun talks stall or if Rangers’ stance shifts on the structure of the agreement.

For Bajrami, a move now feels inevitable. For Rangers, the question is not whether he goes, but how quickly his exit can help accelerate a summer rebuild that shows no sign of slowing.
