French Media Criticize PSG Players After Monaco Loss
PSG faced harsh criticism in the French media following their 2-1 defeat to Monaco on Friday. The team's performance was described as lacklustre, with several players receiving poor ratings from leading sports newspaper L'Equipe.
Player Ratings Reveal Media Discontent
The scores out of ten by L'Equipe reflected widespread disappointment. Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov earned just a 3, while defenders Pacho and midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves were also rated poorly.
- Safonov: 3
- Hakimi: 5
- Marquinhos: 5
- Pacho: 4
- Zaïre-Emery: 5
- Vitinha: 4
- J.Neves: 4
- F.Ruiz: 5
- Akliouche: 6
- D.Doué: 5
- Kvaratskhelia: 6
Only Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Magnes Akliouche managed to earn anything close to a positive score. Most of the starting lineup has been at the club since last season, so better cohesion was expected.
Early Season Woes and Player Form
PSG have deliberately aimed to peak later in the season, around May, but the slow start has drawn attention. Safonov's form has been troubling; he has conceded six goals from nine shots on target. Despite the frustrating beginning, no panic seems to have set in within the club.
Meanwhile, summer signing Lucas Digne is at the center of transfer rumors, with Chelsea reportedly considering ambitious moves to sign him.
