PSG Leads Chase for Ajax Starlet Mika Godts as Premier League Giants Eye €60m Deal
Paris Saint-Germain have moved to the front of the queue for Ajax sensation Mika Godts – but Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been alerted to a potential €60m opening to hijack the deal.
The 21-year-old Belgian lit up Amsterdam last season. In a side that often stumbled, he didn’t. Thirty-two goal contributions in a turbulent campaign turned him from promising prospect into one of the most coveted young forwards in Europe. Scouts already knew the name. Sporting directors now have it underlined.
PSG move after Diomande setback
PSG, still reshaping their attack for the Luis Enrique era, have stepped up their pursuit. After missing out on RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande, the French champions have held what are described as positive talks over a move for Godts.
A deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche is close, yet Luis Campos is refusing to stop there. The club’s football advisor wants more firepower, more variety, and sees Godts as a forward who can slide seamlessly into Enrique’s long-term blueprint.
Godts, for his part, is understood to be open to the idea. The lure is obvious: the French capital, the Champions League stage, and a dressing room stacked with elite attacking talent. The flip side is just as clear – brutal competition for minutes in one of the most loaded forward lines in world football. He knows that, and it has not put him off.
Premier League warned: move now or miss out
As PSG’s interest has hardened, intermediaries have been busy. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been updated on the situation, having kept varying levels of contact with Godts’ camp throughout the summer.
Each of the four English clubs has a different problem to solve, but the same name on the list.
Arsenal are still hunting a left-sided attacker to complement Mikel Arteta’s front line, someone who can ease the burden on their current wide options and add another cutting edge from that flank.
Liverpool’s need for extra width has been well documented, especially with an eye on refreshing an attack that has evolved but still leans heavily on its senior stars. Tottenham, too, are scanning the market for wide forwards to deepen Ange Postecoglou’s high-tempo system.
At Old Trafford, the priority is slightly different but the fit is obvious. Manchester United want a versatile forward, comfortable across the front line, to give Erik ten Hag more flexibility and genuine competition in every attacking role. Sources insist all four Premier League clubs retain a live interest in the Belgium international and are watching PSG’s moves closely.
Ajax dig in – but set the price
Ajax, though, have no intention of rolling over. In a period when the Dutch giants are desperate to steady the ship and rebuild their identity, losing one of their brightest young stars is not part of the plan.
Internally, the stance is firm. Externally, it has now been made crystal clear.
Sources indicate Ajax value Godts at around €60m (£51m). That figure has not scared PSG off; if anything, it has framed the conversation rather than ended it. Negotiations continue.
Technical director Jordi Cruyff underlined the club’s position in public over the weekend, speaking to De Telegraaf.
“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff said. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”
It is the classic Ajax line: everyone has a price, but timing and valuation are non-negotiable. Stay one more year, grow a little more, then move for a fee that suits all parties.
A transfer race waiting to ignite
Despite that hard public message, PSG remain optimistic that a deal can be worked on if talks continue in the right direction. The French champions sense an opportunity to secure a long-term attacking asset before the rest of Europe fully mobilises.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are not out of the picture. Far from it. All four are monitoring every twist, waiting to see whether Ajax’s stance softens as the window edges towards its close.
For now, Godts is still an Ajax player, still the jewel they do not want to lose. But with PSG pushing and the Premier League’s heavyweights hovering, how long can Amsterdam hold its nerve?
