PSG Targets Ajax Winger Mika Godts Amid Barcola Exit
Paris Saint-Germain have started formal talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts, with the French champions accelerating plans to reshape their attack this summer.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, discussions are under way between the clubs, while the 21-year-old Belgian has already given the green light to the move after what were described as “direct positive talks” with PSG’s transfer chief Luis Campos.
Ajax, though, are digging in. The Dutch side are determined to keep one of the Eredivisie’s standout young attackers and are expected to drive a hard bargain.
Barcola out, Godts in?
This push for Godts does not come in isolation. It follows the looming departure of Bradley Barcola, who has informed PSG he will not extend his contract beyond its current expiry in 2028.
That stance has opened the door for Liverpool. The Premier League side are now considered frontrunners for Barcola’s signature and are expected to submit an opening offer in the coming days. If the France international moves on, Luis Enrique’s options on the left wing will thin quickly.
That is where Godts fits in.
The right-footed attacker is most dangerous from the left flank, cutting inside to create and finish, but he can also slot in as an attacking midfielder. His versatility and profile make him a natural candidate to inherit Barcola’s minutes in Enrique’s fluid front line.
Ajax’s new jewel
Godts arrives on PSG’s radar off the back of a breakout season in Amsterdam. He racked up 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions in 2025/26, numbers that propelled him into the spotlight across Europe.
Eredivisie observers voted him Talent of the Year for 2025/26, an award that underlined his rise and saw him beat off competition from the likes of AZ prospect Kees Smit, himself linked with several major clubs.
Quick over the first yards, sharp in tight spaces and blessed with close control, Godts has drawn stylistic comparisons to Eden Hazard. The Ajax winger carries the ball with the same low centre of gravity and willingness to commit defenders, and he adds a composed edge in front of goal that clubs at the top level crave.
A test of PSG’s new project
For PSG, this chase is about more than replacing one winger with another. The club are already on the verge of completing a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, having beaten Liverpool to the Frenchman’s signature. Moving for Godts immediately afterwards would send another clear signal: the French champions are doubling down on youth, pace and creativity as they rebuild their attack.
Ajax, renowned for nurturing and protecting their best young talents, will not let Godts leave easily. PSG have the financial muscle, the player’s approval and a clear tactical role waiting for him.
