Premier League Transfer Spending: 2026-27 Summer Window Analysis

The transfer window is open, and Premier League teams have wasted no time splashing cash. Already, spending has crossed the £1 billion mark with weeks still remaining before the deadline. Tottenham Hotspur lead the pack, investing close to £230 million as they look to move away from relegation concerns.

Among Spurs' major signings are Sandro Tonali for £92.5 million, Mateus Fernandes at £85 million, and Jan Paul van Hecke costing £52 million, along with several free transfers. Some of these moves have also weakened their Premier League rivals.

Manchester City made the most expensive single transfer by paying £116 million to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson, an England World Cup standout.

Brighton and Hove Albion have also passed the £100 million mark in spending, including a near exchange deal with Tottenham involving Van Hecke's sale for £52 million and Luka Vuskovic's purchase for £50 million.

On the selling side, Chelsea joined Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United in earning over £100 million from player sales. Chelsea parted ways with Marc Cucurella and Andrey Santos, the latter moving to Manchester United for over £50 million.
