Tottenham Rejects Everton Bid for Richarlison Amid Transfer Stalemate

Tottenham Hotspur have turned down an offer from Everton for Richarlison, drawing a firm line in the sand over the Brazilian’s future and price.

The forward is understood to be keen on a return to his former club, but Spurs have made it clear they will not be rushed or lowballed into a deal. Everton’s opening proposal fell short of Tottenham’s valuation, with the London club said to be demanding at least £35 million before they even consider letting him go.

Richarlison, now 29, knows Goodison Park well. He spent four seasons on Merseyside, becoming a fan favourite and a key figure in some of the best football of his career, before moving to Spurs in a £60m transfer in 2022. That price tag still hangs over any negotiation.

He has featured regularly in pre-season under Roberto De Zerbi, but the landscape in north London could change quickly. De Zerbi wants to bring in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Savinho, a double attacking swoop that would crowd the forward line and potentially nudge Richarlison down the pecking order.

That possibility has kept Everton interested. David Moyes is pushing for attacking reinforcements this summer, and Richarlison has long been linked with a Goodison return. For the player, a reunion offers familiarity, responsibility and the chance to be a central figure again. For Everton, it would be a statement signing.

The problem is the fee. Tottenham’s stance is straightforward: meet the valuation or look elsewhere. Everton have already felt that hard edge in negotiations once this summer.

They tried to sign Djed Spence from Spurs, tabling a £25m bid for the England international. Tottenham refused to budge, held out for more, and Spence ultimately joined Inter Milan in a £30m deal that also includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause. Spurs got their number. Everton walked away empty-handed.

The pattern is clear. If Everton truly want Richarlison back, they will have to pay. And they are not the only ones watching. Other clubs are monitoring the Brazilian’s situation, ready to move if Tottenham open the door.

For now, the move that many Everton fans crave sits in limbo, caught between a player’s desire, a manager’s rebuild, and a valuation that will test how far the Toffees are really prepared to go.
