Aston Villa Acquire Alejandro Garnacho on Loan from Chelsea

Aston Villa have brought in Argentinian winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a loan deal set to last the entire season, with a conditional clause that could make the transfer permanent next summer. Both Premier League clubs confirmed the move on Thursday.

Unai Emery's Take on the New Signing

“We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy,” said Unai Emery in an official club statement.

The 22-year-old arrives at Villa following a challenging season at Chelsea, where consistent playing time was hard to come by after his £40 million transfer from Manchester United last year. Garnacho featured in 43 matches across all competitions, netting eight goals.

Garnacho's move from United came after five years at Old Trafford, during which he scored 26 goals in 144 appearances. His final period there saw him fall out of favor under then-head coach Ruben Amorim before making the switch.

Developed in Atletico Madrid's academy, Garnacho was named in Argentina's 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup but did not make it to the final selection.
