Piers Morgan Defends Michael Olise Amid Criticism Over Bayern Interview

After Bayern Munich's 5-0 Champions League victory over Bodo/Glimt, Michael Olise attracted mixed reactions due to his post-match interview. The France international, praised for his performances since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024 for £50 million, gave brief and blunt answers that left some viewers unimpressed.

Olise, often nicknamed football’s 'Mr Nonchalant', faced accusations of rudeness from some fans on social media. Some argued he might not be suited for interviews and suggested Bayern should reconsider his media appearances.

Piers Morgan’s Take on Olise’s Attitude

The outspoken broadcaster and Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan joined the conversation after a tweet labeled Olise as “rude and annoying.” Morgan disagreed with the criticism, calling Olise a “brilliant footballer” and added that he would welcome the player at Arsenal without hesitation.

Olise’s performance against Bodo/Glimt justified Morgan’s praise, scoring two spectacular goals including a 25-yard strike hailed as one of the best of the Champions League group stage opener.

Olise’s Impact at Bayern Munich

During the 2025-26 season, Olise demonstrated his elite quality with 22 goals and 31 assists across 52 matches. This season, he continues to impress with five goals and two assists in just five games.

Bayern’s management appears confident in Olise despite the interview backlash. Since arriving, he has won two Bundesliga titles and two German Cups. He was also voted Bayern’s Player of the Season twice and earned spots in the Bundesliga Team of the Season both years.

There is talk that Olise could contend for the 2026 Ballon d’Or next month, underscoring his growing reputation.
