Nigerian Midfielder Moves from Wolves to Ajax

A year after arriving from Genk with the promise of adding drive and goals to Wolves’ midfield, the 25-year-old Nigerian is on the move again, this time to Ajax.

He leaves Molineux with 38 appearances and six goals to his name in old gold, three of them in the Premier League. The last of those league strikes came in March against Brentford, a reminder of the power and direct running that briefly lit up Wolves’ season.

But his influence faded as the campaign wore on. Although he was involved on the final day, he started only one of the club’s last ten fixtures, slipping down the pecking order just as the battle for places intensified.

Ajax now offer a reset. The Dutch giants, who finished a disappointing fifth in the Eredivisie last season, are rebuilding and banking on fresh energy to drag them back towards their usual territory at the top of the table. He steps into an Ajax squad that must first navigate the play-offs to reach the Europa Conference League proper.

For a player still short of his peak years, it is a move loaded with opportunity: a grand stage, European nights within reach, and a club desperate for a new heartbeat in midfield.
