Morgan Gibbs-White to Join England Squad, Replacing Injured Cole Palmer
Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to be called back into the England squad, stepping in for Cole Palmer, who will withdraw due to a minor injury.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder was initially left out of the squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures but is now likely to be included.
Coach Thomas Tuchel's Update
England manager Thomas Tuchel revealed on Friday that Gibbs-White was nearly selected initially. The 26-year-old midfielder is anticipated to replace Cole Palmer from Chelsea.
Palmer, aged 24, had been recalled by Tuchel after his surprising omission from England’s World Cup roster. The coach previously commented that Palmer "had a point to prove" and needed to demonstrate his worth to retain his place.
Now, Palmer will miss the international break where England are scheduled to play four matches.

Palmer's Recent Form and Injury

His 2025-26 campaign was affected by a recurring groin issue. Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, now managing Manchester City, expressed confusion about this injury.
Palmer last appeared for England during a 1-0 friendly loss to Japan in March.
