Mohammed Fuseini Returns to Training After Violent Robbery Incident
Union SG forward Mohammed Fuseini has returned to training after being the victim of a violent street robbery in Brussels, an attack caught on a team-mate’s mobile phone that helped police rapidly track down a suspect.
The footage, filmed as the players walked back to their car, shows the moment several individuals set upon the group and stole valuables including watches, phones and personal items. The images, described inside the club as “particularly disturbing”, quickly moved from dressing-room shock to police evidence.
Union confirmed Fuseini’s condition after he was taken to hospital for checks. The club said he “received excellent care from the Brussels police” and stressed that his injuries were minor, allowing the Ghanaian forward to resume training the following day. Relief in the sporting department, certainly, but also a lingering sense of anger that one of their players could be targeted so brazenly.

The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office later outlined the scale of the incident. In a statement quoted by Het Laatste Nieuws, it said three people “fell victim to a violent robbery while heading to their vehicle in Brussels”, adding that “several individuals attacked them and stole various valuables, including watches, phones, and personal belongings.”
The pressure on the assailants grew once the video began to circulate among investigators. A 23-year-old man was arrested after stolen items were recovered during a search of his home and has since been remanded in custody at Haren prison. The prosecutor requested an investigating judge and charged the suspect with violent gang robbery; according to reports, he has no prior criminal record.
Two of the three victims suffered injuries serious enough to cause temporary incapacity for work, underlining the force of the assault beyond the shocking images. The suspect’s lawyer, Samuel Rosenblatt, confirmed his client’s detention on charges of gang robbery with violence and said only that his client “is aware of the severity of the facts and regrets them”, stressing that the judicial investigation remains ongoing.
Fuseini's Recovery
For Fuseini, the incident lands on top of a season already scarred by physical setbacks. A popular figure in the Union SG dressing room, the forward has scored 14 goals in 71 appearances for the club and is under contract until 2028. Yet muscle, ankle and hamstring problems have already kept him out for 25 matches across 145 days of the 2025-26 campaign.
He now faces the challenge of shaking off not just the fatigue of repeated rehab, but the memory of an attack that turned an ordinary walk to the car into a crime scene. How he responds from here, on and off the pitch, will shape the next chapter of a career Union still expect to flourish.
