Mason Mount to Miss Manchester United vs Leeds Friendly

Manchester United’s smooth pre-season rhythm has hit its first snag. Mason Mount, one of the standout performers of the summer so far, is set to miss Wednesday’s friendly against Leeds at Croke Park after taking a knock to his foot.

The 27-year-old has been central to United’s early preparations, driving play from the number eight role with a sharpness that has impressed staff and supporters alike. With new signing Andrey Santos sitting just behind him, Mount has helped give Michael Carrick’s midfield a more fluid, front-foot look in the opening three games.

That momentum stalled in Gothenburg.

In the early minutes of Saturday’s draw with Paris St-Germain, Mount was caught on the foot and never fully recovered. Carrick opted to withdraw him before half-time, describing the decision as precautionary. Mount later walked unaided to the team coach, offering a reassuring sight after the initial concern.

The relief has been tempered by the days since. Mount has not trained following that PSG game and is now expected to sit out the Leeds fixture in Dublin, denying United another chance to refine a midfield that had started to click around him.
