Radek Vitek Joins Middlesbrough Permanently from Manchester United

Manchester United have officially sold goalkeeper Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough in a deal that could reach £14 million. The agreement includes a 35% sell-on clause, matching rights, and a buy-back option for United.

At 22 years old, Vitek impressed during his loan spell at Bristol City last season, achieving 12 clean sheets in 41 matches. His strong performances attracted attention, but his desire for a starting role made a permanent move necessary once it was clear he wouldn’t be the first-choice keeper at Old Trafford.

“Radek has been a model professional throughout his time with the club and a popular member of our Academy squads. United would like to place on record our thanks to Radek for his time at the club, and wish him all the best in his next step.”

Vitek joined United in 2020 but never featured in a competitive first-team game. His journey included loan stints at Accrington Stanley, BW Linz, and Bristol City. He was involved in United’s preseason for 2026-27 but, with Senne Lammens confirmed as the number one keeper, Karl Darlow as number two, and Tom Heaton third choice, the goalkeeper lineup is set. Meanwhile, Andre Onana returned to Trabzonspor on loan, and Altay Bayindir moved temporarily to Celta Vigo.
