Manchester United's Bid for Conceicao: Zirkzee Swap with Juventus
Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for Francisco Conceicao, testing Juventus’ resolve to keep a winger they only made permanent a year ago and now value at up to €60 million.
The 22-year-old Portuguese arrived in Turin from Porto on loan in the summer of 2024 and quickly forced his way into the core of the project, first under Igor Tudor and then Luciano Spalletti. Juventus did not hesitate: they triggered their option and paid €30m to secure him, convinced they had found a long-term pillar for their attack.
His form has justified that faith. Direct, fearless, and increasingly decisive in the final third, Conceicao has drawn admiring glances from the Premier League. Liverpool are keeping a close eye on developments, but it is United who have stepped on the accelerator.
United’s offer: cash plus Zirkzee
Juventus now rate Conceicao between €50m and €60m, a figure that would usually shut down all but the most serious suitors. United have responded by putting a creative package on the table.
According to Sportmediaset, the English club are prepared to offer €30m plus Joshua Zirkzee in exchange for the winger. For United, Zirkzee is no longer central to their long-term plans. For Juventus, he ticks several boxes at once.
Spalletti is an admirer of the Dutch striker’s profile: mobile, technically sharp, and already proven in Serie A. That combination makes the proposed swap especially attractive in Turin, where the Bianconeri are actively hunting for a new forward this summer.
The deal, on paper, suits both dugouts. Michael Carrick would finally gain the dynamic wide player he craves to stretch defences and raise the tempo of United’s attack. Juventus, in turn, would plug their centre-forward gap with a player ready to step straight into Spalletti’s system, while also banking a useful cash injection.
Mendes in the middle
A negotiation of this scale was never going to move without heavyweight representation. Jorge Mendes is deeply involved, operating as the key mediator between the two clubs.
The super-agent is working to shape a structure that works financially and tactically for everyone, ironing out the details of valuations, bonuses and timing. He is expected to present a formal proposal to the Juventus hierarchy at Continassa in the coming days, a step that will likely clarify just how open the Italians are to losing one of their breakout stars.
Inside both clubs, the framework is seen as close to ideal: a high-value winger heading to Old Trafford, a ready-made No 9 and fresh funds heading to Turin. Now it comes down to numbers, timing and, crucially, who Juventus are prepared to sacrifice to balance their attack.
Domino effect: David pushed towards the exit
If Zirkzee walks through the doors at Continassa, someone else will have to leave. Jonathan David sits at the top of that list.
Juventus no longer consider the Canadian untouchable. With Lois Openda on his way to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani reshaping their attacking options, the club are ready to cash in on David for around €30m, despite the player’s desire to stay.
Interest is already forming. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made early enquiries from the Premier League. In France, Rennes and Paris FC are monitoring the situation with intent, sensing an opportunity to land a proven goalscorer at a defined price.
One move will trigger the next. If United push their offer over the line and Conceicao swaps black and white for red, Zirkzee’s path to Juventus opens, and David’s future shifts elsewhere.
