Lukaku’s Future in Limbo with Fenerbahce Offer Resurfaces

Romelu Lukaku’s career has reached that awkward crossroads where reputation still looms large, but the market hesitates.

At 33 and entering the final year of his contract with Napoli, Belgium’s all-time top scorer is once again being offered around Europe and beyond. This week, his name landed back on the desk of Fenerbahce.

According to Turkish outlet TRT Spor, correspondent Doruk Tigemer reports that Lukaku has been proposed to the Istanbul giants yet again. It is not a new idea. His name was pushed to Fenerbahce during the winter transfer window, then resurfaced about a month ago. Now it’s back in circulation as the striker hunts for a new home.

Napoli, for their part, appear ready to move on. After a disappointing 2025–2026 campaign on an individual level, Lukaku is not expected to be Massimiliano Allegri’s first-choice striker when the new season kicks off. The club’s stance is clear: reports in Italy suggest they are prepared to accept offers of up to 10 million euros for the veteran forward.

The exit, though, remains theoretical. No agreement, no advanced talks, no farewell at the Diego Maradona stadium yet.

The market around him is restless but not decisive. Saudi clubs have entered the frame, adding financial muscle to the conversation and testing the player’s priorities at this stage of his career. Across the Atlantic, his name has also been linked with Atlanta United, a move that would shift one of Europe’s most recognisable No. 9s into MLS.

For now, all of it is noise without action. Despite being repeatedly offered, there have been no official negotiations between Fenerbahce and Napoli, nor with Lukaku’s representatives. Just proposals. Just possibilities.
