Luis Diaz Backs Harry Kane to Win 2026 Ballon d'Or After Record-Breaking Season

Luis Diaz, who shares the Bayern Munich dressing room with Harry Kane, has voiced strong support for his team-mate to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or. The Colombian winger was impressed by Kane's incredible 73-goal haul across club and country during a season filled with trophies.

A Colleague’s View on Kane’s Elite Mentality

Diaz highlighted how witnessing Kane's ruthless finishing and dedication up close in training made him appreciate the England captain even more. Before joining Bayern, Diaz faced Kane as a Premier League rival, but training alongside him has given a fresh perspective on Kane's professionalism and skill.

• Kane’s total goals in 2025-26: 73 (club and country)
• Achievements: Helped Bayern secure all three major German domestic titles

Diaz told ESPN, "I already knew he scored loads of goals, but being around him every single day, seeing what he does in training, and watching his mentality - I think that dazzled me even more." He described Kane as "brutal" and "magnificent," struggling to find words that fully capture his quality.

Kane Favored for the Ballon d’Or

The winger named Kane as his top pick for the prestigious award, expressing hope that Kane will take home the golden ball at the ceremony in London next month. Diaz said, "For me, he is the number one candidate to win it. Hopefully, he can achieve it."

Personal Milestone for Diaz

Being included in the 30-man Ballon d'Or shortlist is a proud moment for Diaz himself. Reflecting on the nomination, he said, "For me, it's a bonus because not many get the opportunity to be nominated. It fills me with pride to know I'm part of that list."

The recognition validates his hard work, as he added, "You set targets and goals for yourself, and sometimes you don't imagine reaching this far, but things like this coming your way make you happy."

The 2026 Ballon d’Or event is scheduled for October 26 in London. This marks the eighth time Kane has been nominated in his career. He will compete against other top contenders including England internationals Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.
