Liverpool Makes £50 Million Offer for Ismaila Sarr After Yankuba Minteh Deal Falls Through

Liverpool have shifted their transfer focus to Ismaila Sarr, launching a £50 million bid for the Crystal Palace winger after abandoning negotiations for Brighton's Yankuba Minteh. Manager Andoni Iraola is pushing hard to strengthen his squad before the summer transfer window closes.

£50 Million Bid for Sarr

With five days left until the deadline, Liverpool acted quickly following the collapse of talks over Minteh. The club had two offers rejected for the Brighton forward, both well below the club’s £70 million valuation. Now, attention has turned to Sarr, who joined Crystal Palace two years ago and is reportedly eager to move to Anfield.

The urgency stems from significant squad changes, including the tragic loss of Diogo Jota and the exits of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, which have left the team short on wide attacking options.

Strong Competition for the Winger

Capturing the 28-year-old won’t be simple. According to Foot Mercato, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal and Turkish side Galatasaray are also pursuing Sarr. Galatasaray are said to be in advanced talks, while Al-Hilal remains a close watcher.

Last season, Sarr featured in 45 matches across all competitions, scoring 21 goals and assisting twice. He played a key role as Crystal Palace won the UEFA Europa Conference League. At the recent World Cup, he scored four goals before Senegal was eliminated by Belgium in the round of 32.

Iraola Calls for Swift Reinforcements

Manager Andoni Iraola has openly expressed the need for immediate additions to the squad. With interest from Tottenham and Manchester City in Cody Gakpo, Iraola spoke with Sky Sports about the challenges faced. He admitted that while some deals take time, the squad remains thin and that ideally, every position would have strong backup. The ongoing market demands flexibility.

"Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1, because it is true that we are still quite thin," Iraola said.

What Comes Next for Liverpool?

Liverpool must now fend off competition internationally and await Crystal Palace’s response to their £50 million offer. If an agreement is reached, Sarr could have a medical before Monday’s deadline. Meanwhile, separate talks continue with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible deal for Bradley Barcola to further boost Liverpool’s attack.
