On the Spanish sports show El Chiringuito, host Josep Pedrerol revealed that the club plans to check in with the player privately. Pedrerol said they noticed new images showing Yamal’s mood and intend to ask him if everything is alright.

Concerns Over Teammates Leaving

While some think his irritation came from the substitution itself, journalist Jota Jordi from SPORT suggests Yamal’s unhappiness comes from the possible exits of three close friends: Alejandro Balde, Marc Casado, and Hector Fort. These players might leave as Barcelona tries to manage its finances.

Balde, especially, has been linked with a big transfer to Manchester United. Jordi mentioned how much these friendships mean to Yamal, saying they’re like brothers to him and that it deeply hurts the young player.

Hansi Flick Defends Yamal

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick dismissed rumors of tension or attitude problems ahead of their game against Athletic Bilbao. He explained the substitution was due to a minor health issue, stating Yamal had a headache and wasn’t at full fitness because he had just returned after three weeks off.

"He had a minor issue, a headache," Flick said. "Lamine is a genius, it’s understandable. He’s had three weeks off and has only trained a few days. It’s normal that he’s not at his peak."

Flick praised Yamal’s performance, highlighting his defensive efforts and an assist to Raphinha during the match. He emphasized the importance of finding ways for Yamal to regain top form.

"We need to find a solution so he can get back to his best, but I really value his 60 minutes," Flick added. "He pressed very well on the first goal and on the second he passed the ball to Raphinha. He gives us more options. He helped us a lot and he’s doing well. We’ll see how he progresses, but we need him because he’s exceptional."

The coach also spoke about Yamal’s competitive nature, saying the player’s visible anger at being substituted should be seen positively. Flick believes this hunger to stay on the field reflects what makes Yamal special.

"It’s normal that he wants to play. When you’re a true champion, you always strive to win the next title. That’s his attitude," Flick said. "Every player on the team is hungry to win a third consecutive league title. We’re ready and we’ll fight for it."
