Monaco’s new jewel
At 22, Camara has moved quickly from promise to prominence.
Monaco paid €15m to prise him from FC Metz in July 2024. Since then he has racked up 71 appearances, grown into the heartbeat of their midfield and carved out a reputation as one of Ligue 1’s most dynamic young players.

Back at Monaco, he wasted no time reminding English clubs what he can do. On Sunday he played his part in a 3-2 pre-season win over Liverpool, a timely audition in front of one of his main suitors.
A four-way Premier League fight
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the battle for Camara is already “fierce”. United, Liverpool, Palace and Forest are all in.
United and Liverpool have been tracking him for months. Both clubs registered their interest earlier this year and continue to monitor his situation closely, wary of being left behind if Monaco open the door.
The danger for them is clear. Palace have already moved from admiration to action, submitting what has been described as a concrete offer. Forest, for their part, are said to be preparing an official bid in the coming days.
The pressure around Monaco’s valuation is building. Foot Mercato report that the Ligue 1 side want €50m (£43m) for their midfield gem. Other reports in France go a step further, claiming Monaco are actually holding out for €60m (£51m) and have already turned down a €50m proposal from Palace.
The message from the Principality is blunt: Camara will not come cheap.
United’s midfield rebuild
For Manchester United, the pursuit of Camara sits inside a broader reconstruction of their engine room.

Liverpool’s need for energy
Liverpool’s interest carries its own logic.
Last season exposed the lack of consistent energy and bite in their midfield. They need a player who can both raise the intensity and add quality on the ball. Camara ticks those boxes.
He could become a direct replacement for Curtis Jones, who is attracting interest from Inter Milan, while also unlocking more from Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine struggled at times last term, often asked to plug gaps rather than dictate games. A relentless, ball-winning runner beside him would change that picture.
Liverpool have seen Camara up close. They felt his influence in that 3-2 defeat to Monaco. If there were any doubts about whether his game can translate to Premier League pace and aggression, that friendly will have eased some of them.
