LaLiga 2026-27 Schedule Released: Season Kicks Off 15 August, First Clásico on 25 October
The Spanish football federation has unveiled the complete fixture list for the 2026-27 LaLiga season. The Primera División will feature 380 matches running from 15 August to 30 May next year.
Opening Matches and Early Fixtures
Barcelona will start their title defense against Athletic Club, while Real Madrid, managed by Mourinho, face Real Sociedad. Because some clubs had players reaching the World Cup semifinals or final, four fixtures will take place midweek between 25 and 27 August. These include Barcelona vs Athletic, Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad, Atlético Madrid vs Málaga, and Valencia vs Betis.
Recently promoted teams Racing, Deportivo, and Málaga begin their campaigns away at Villarreal, Elche, and Atlético respectively. Due to stadium renovations, local events, or safety reasons, Villarreal, Málaga, and Real Sociedad also have away starts.
Key Dates and Special Matches
The Madrid derby is set early, with Atlético hosting Real Madrid on 20 September and the return leg scheduled for 4 April. The first Clásico will be at Camp Nou on 25 October, followed by the second meeting at Santiago Bernabéu on 9 May.
Valencia will play its last home game at Mestalla this season, bidding farewell to the historic stadium in their final match against Elche.
Scheduling Details
The calendar was created through collaboration between the federation, LaLiga, and Liga F, taking over 400 conditions into account to avoid major clashes across Spanish competitions. Notably, there will be no league matches during Christmas; a break runs from 22 December to 2 January.
International breaks pause league action on three occasions: 21 September to 6 October, 9 to 17 November, and 22 to 30 March. The season features only two midweek rounds on matchdays 6 and 33.
