Karim Adeyemi's FC Barcelona Unveiling Delayed

Karim Adeyemi will have to wait for his Camp Nou moment.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger completed his move to FC Barcelona last week, but the traditional unveiling on the pitch in front of thousands of fans has been pushed back. Not because of paperwork. Because of the World Cup.

Spain’s 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina in yesterday’s final reshaped Barcelona’s schedule. Club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco both travelled to the showpiece and are not expected back in the city until Tuesday, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Without the club’s two main powerbrokers in town, Barça parked the presentation plans. The delay is short, but symbolic. At a club that loves its rituals, walking out onto the Camp Nou turf in blaugrana colours is a key part of the welcome.

That moment is now set for Wednesday, 22 July, when Adeyemi is scheduled to be presented to both the press and the fans at the stadium. Only then will Barcelona properly roll out their new attacking signing in front of their own people.

It was not supposed to unfold like this. The original idea was to tie up the deal before the weekend so the 24-year-old could immediately report for work under new coach Hansi Flick and blend into pre-season from day one.

Instead, Adeyemi waits a few more days for his first roar from the stands – and Flick waits a little longer for his first look at one of the key pieces in Barcelona’s next attacking rebuild.
