Kalvin Phillips Set for Sheffield United Loan; PSG Nears Deal for Monaco's Akliouche
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips appears ready to join Sheffield United on loan for a second time. The 30-year-old has struggled to find regular playing time since his move from Leeds United in 2022, making only 32 appearances for City.
Since the end of the 2023-24 season, Phillips has featured just once for the Citizens and spent spells on loan at West Ham United, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield United. His previous stint at Sheffield United was hampered by a knee injury limiting him to three appearances in the latter half of last season.
Reports from the Manchester Evening News suggest that Phillips' return to the Blades will be confirmed soon. Despite having two years left on his contract with City, he was excluded from their pre-season tour squad to facilitate this move away from the Etihad Stadium.
PSG Closing in on Signing Monaco Attacker Maghnes Akliouche
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Paris Saint-Germain are near completing a deal for Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche. Liverpool were also linked with the 24-year-old, but PSG have reportedly made significant progress in negotiations.
Akliouche has tallied 23 goals and 28 assists in 139 appearances for Monaco across all competitions. Last season, he contributed seven goals and 11 assists in 43 matches. He has Champions League experience too, scoring three times and assisting five in 20 games.
The versatile French international, who primarily plays down the right wing, has earned 10 caps for France.
Middlesbrough Discuss Loan Deal for Everton Goalkeeper Mark Travers
Middlesbrough are reportedly in talks with Everton about securing goalkeeper Mark Travers on loan. The Republic of Ireland international previously played 17 times for Boro during a loan spell in the 2024-25 season.
Travers moved to Everton from Bournemouth last summer but appeared only twice last season, as Jordan Pickford remained the first-choice keeper. Football Insider states that Travers wants to leave Everton this summer to gain more game time.
Wrexham is also said to be interested in the goalkeeper, who made 82 appearances for Bournemouth before his transfer to Everton.
