The True Story Behind Joao Neves Arriving at PSG Training in a Cargo Van
Joao Neves, the Portuguese midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, caught everyone’s attention when he showed up at the club’s training ground driving a modest cargo van. This sight was quite unexpected since top footballers are usually seen with luxury cars. Instead of just sparking jokes online, it turns out there was a heartfelt reason behind his choice of vehicle.
A Van Full of Charity Donations
The midfielder arrived in a Portuguese-registered cargo van carrying hundreds of items. French influencer Djamel, who has strong connections with PSG, revealed that these goods were meant for local charities supported by the PSG Foundation. The gesture highlighted Neves’ generous spirit and dedication beyond football.
"Just to let you know: Joao Neves did, in fact, drive a van to the Campus, but there was a reason behind all this. A reason that makes us admire him even more and shows what an extraordinary human being he is," said Djamel. "The two-time European champion had hundreds of items in the back of the van that he delivered to charities supported by the PSG Foundation!"
From Jokes to Respect
Initially, people joked about what Neves might be carrying, suggesting everything from salted codfish to moving house supplies. Yet once the truth emerged, the admiration grew immensely. Djamel emphasized the player’s humility and team spirit, saying, "This speaks volumes about the incredible, humble person with enormous team spirit that he is." Neves also took time to greet fans and sign autographs before training after recently recovering from illness.
Neves Eyes Return to Starting Line-up
Having bounced back from his recent health setback, Neves is determined to regain his spot in the starting eleven under coach Luis Enrique. PSG faces AS Monaco in a Ligue 1 clash on Friday, hoping to secure their first league win after consecutive draws. The midfielder’s comeback could provide a crucial lift as the reigning champions look to find their winning rhythm again.
