Jeremy Doku Commits to Manchester City with New Five-Year Deal
Manchester City has confirmed that Belgian winger Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract, ensuring his presence at the Etihad Stadium through 2031. This commitment comes as the club embarks on a fresh chapter under manager Enzo Maresca.
A Key Player for City’s Attack
Since joining from Stade Rennais in 2023, the 24-year-old Belgian has become a central figure in City's offensive lineup. His blend of rapid pace and technical skill quickly made him one of the Premier League's most threatening wide players. Doku joins a list of stars like Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, and Abdukodir Khusanov who have recently pledged their futures to the club.
"This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person," Doku shared. "I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do. It’s hard to explain just how much this club does to help players."
Excitement for the Maresca Era
The extension is a boost for City as they transition to Maresca’s leadership, who plans to build the attack around Doku’s unique talents and speed. The winger expressed strong enthusiasm about the new manager’s style.
"With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players. The City fans are also a huge reason I have signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and it means the world to me. I want to focus on bringing them the success they deserve."
Praise from Club Director Hugo Viana
Hugo Viana, Manchester City’s Director of Football, highlighted Doku’s growth and influence within the squad.
"Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see. He has a special dynamic and the right traits for a winger. He brings a unique quality to our team and is a fantastic person loved across the club. His attitude is first class, and he wants to improve every single day. He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue to develop in the years ahead."
Impactful Early Career at City
Doku’s debut season was remarkable, featuring a historic game against Bournemouth where he became the youngest player in Premier League history to achieve four assists and five goal involvements in a single match. That year, he appeared in over 40 games, scoring six goals and assisting 11, helping City secure their fourth straight league title.
During the 2024-25 season, despite challenges, Doku remained dependable, ending with eight goals and nine assists while showing greater defensive awareness. By 2025-26, he was essential to the team, playing a key role in winning a domestic cup double. Notably, he scored the equalizer and assisted Nico’s winner in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton, marking a significant contribution in Pep Guardiola’s final year in charge.
