Ivan Toney Charged with Assault After Nightclub Incident

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an incident at a London nightclub in Soho.

The charge, brought on July 31, relates to an alleged incident on Dec. 6, 2025. Toney is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Sept. 24.

A spokesperson for Toney said the Al Ahli forward “acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”

The development comes at a time when Toney’s profile has rarely been higher. Now playing his club football in the Saudi Pro League with Al Ahli, the 28-year-old forced his way into England’s World Cup squad earlier this summer and featured in the latter stages of the tournament.

He came off the bench late in the 2-1 semifinal defeat to Argentina as England chased a dramatic equaliser, then earned his only start of the competition in the chaotic third-place playoff against France, which England won 6-4. Toney has 10 international caps and one goal for his country.

For a striker who has spent the past year pushing his way into the elite conversation, the next decisive moment will not come in a penalty area, but in a courtroom in central London.
